Medical Experts to Offer First Scientific Review of the Atkins Diet

University of South Florida Sponsors Fully Accredited Research Analysis on Low-Carbohydrate Protocols

NEW YORK, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of South Florida College of Medicine, in conjunction with The Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine, will sponsor the first CME program of its kind, ``Low-Carbohydrate Diets: Scientific Research and Clinical Application,'' at the New York Marriott Marquis on Saturday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 10. The program will feature:

  • Researchers and experts from the Atkins Center and Duke University, Ball State University, University of Delaware, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Schneider Children's Hospital of Long Island will present ground-breaking scientific studies on low-carbohydrate protocols 
  • Review of the new, on-going and existing research on low-carbohydrate nutrition 
  • Discussion on the teen obesity epidemic and nutritional treatment strategies 
  • Nutritional supplementation and low-carbohydrate dieting to manage Type 2 diabetes 
  • Clinical perspectives on low-carbohydrate dieting from Dr. Robert Atkins

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. The University of South Florida College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Education to sponsor medical education for physicians.
